in the fictional town of 'Garrison', New
Jersey, just across the George Washington Bridge
from Manhattan, the movie was filmed in Edgewater
and Fort Lee in
New Jersey.
The 'police station' is actually Edgewaterís public
water and electric works building.
The opening sequence was filmed, in five fraught hours,
overnight on the lower level of the George
Washington Bridge itself.
