OK, then came The Matrix.
Johnny Mnemonic,
which fell flat on its virtual face, is set in the ëNew
Jerseyí and ëBeijingí of 2021, but was filmed in Toronto
and MontrÈal.
The ëBeijingí hotel is in Torontoís southwestern suburb
of Mississauga.
In Toronto itself, Udo
Kierís ëNew Jerseyí nightclub is the Opera
House, 735 Queen Street East. The church
of priest Dolph
Lundgren (yes, you read that right, Dolph
is a priest) is Riverdale Presbyterian
Church, 662 Pape Street; and doctor Henry
Rollinsí makeshift hospital is Toronto's Union
Station.
Johnny's recovered childhood memories are of Casa
Loma, 1 Austin Terrace (seen in X-Men,
among many other films) and the staircase of nearby
Spadina House, 285 Spadina
Road.
