This
engaging Kevin
Costner vehicle, complete with trick ending, was
filmed around Washington
DC, actually in the foyer and corridors of the
Pentagon, though
of course, most of this secure facility was reconstructed
in the studio.
The party, where Tom Farrell (Costner)
first meets politician's mistress, the soon-to-be-murdered
Susan Attwell (Sean
Young), is at the Omni
Shoreham Hotel, 2500 Calvert Street NW in
Rock Creek Park, to the northwest of the city.
The foot chase takes Farrell to the ëGeorgetown Subwayí.
Fine, except that the DC suburb of Georgetown isnít
on a subway line.
The station complex is actually the Georgetown
Park Mall (recognise it as the scene of a
major shoot-out in True
Lies?), M Street
at Wisconsin Avenue. The fancy green and gold design
seems clearly to have been inspired by LAís
stunning Bradbury Building (Sebastianís home in Blade
Runner).
The house of Defence Secretary David Brice (Gene
Hackman), where Farrell witnesses the murder, stood
on South Arlington Ridge Road
near Pentagon City, but has now gone.
