The
story of Sixties revolutionaries the Black Panthers,
and the underhand tactics used by the FBI to undermine
the movement, is set largely in Oakland,
over the bay from San
Francisco.
Itís on the double-decked Oakland
Bay Bridge, linking Oakland with San
Francisco, that the cops intimidate one of the
Panthers.
The ëOakland Army Induction Centerí, where the Panthersí
rally is staged, is the familiar Park
Plaza Hotel, 607 South Park View Street,
overlooking Macarthur Park, downtown LA.
The hotel's monumental exterior might be familiar from
films such as The Bodyguard.
Filming also took place at Alameda
County Courthouse, 1225 Fallon Street, Oakland,
and the California State Capitol
Building, Ninth Street between L and N Streets,
Sacramento.
