Olivia Newton-John is Terpsichore, the Muse of Dance,
who pops down to 80s LA to help open a roller disco.
Yeh, and why not?
The disco is the now-gone Pan-Pacific Auditorium,
a beautiful Streamline Moderne structure which stood
at 7600 Beverly Boulevard in LA's fairfax district.
Built in 1935, the building ended up empty and was allowed to decay. In 1989 was gutted by fire. For a time, it looked like the famous façade would be incorporated into a new building, but the remains were finally bulldozed in the early 90s.
Last time I visited, there was a small park on the site.
