Klaus Kinski is one of Pizarro’s lieutenants taking a raft party down river to discover ‘El Dorado’ but instead discovering megalomania. You’ll need to be an adventurous traveller to follow in his footsteps. Werner Herzog’s wild epic was filmed, spectacularly, in the near-inaccessible Andes of northwest Peru, literally hundreds of miles from the nearest city, on the lands of the Aguaruna and the Lauramarca Indians.
