German tourist Jasmin (Marianne Sagebrecht) brings a touch of magic to the humble roadside stopoff of harassed Brenda (CCH Pounder) in Percy Adlon's whimsical fantasy.

The cafe was the Sidewinder Cafe, now – unsurprisingly renamed the Bagdad Cafe – on the famed old Route 66, between the east and west off-ramps of I-40, Newberry Springs, east of Barstow, on Highway 40, California.

It's every bit as friendly and eccentric as it seems on screen. Don't forget to sign the visitors book.

Meanwhile, you can visit the cafe online, and view the photo album, at Bagdad Cafe.
