The Full Monty film location: where the lads finally performed – the “Home of the Full Monty”: Shiregreen Working Men's Club, Sheffield

Owing more to the spirit of Ealing Studios than to the political cinema of Ken Loach, this amiable story of redundant steelworkers exploiting their natural assets was made around the city of Sheffield, in South Yorkshire.

Sheffield is a city founded on its steelworks, and famed for its cutlery. The closed steelworks is Sanderson Special Steels, Newhall Road, in Newhall to the northwest of the city centre.

A little to the south is the Sheffield and Tinsley Canal, where Gaz (Robert Carlyle) and Dave (Mark Addy) get stranded atop a sinking car alongside the Bacon Lane Bridge in Attercliffe.

The Full Monty film location: Gaz drops off his son at school: Sheffield Boxing Centre, Burton Street, Hillfoot

West a couple of miles, in Hillfoot, is the school where Gaz drops off his son, Nathan (William Snape), now the Sheffield Boxing Centre, 73 Burton Street off Langsett Road. This also became the interior of the ‘Job Centre’ where the lads’ practice routine livens up the dole queue. The area is overlooked by Sheffield's Ski Village, and it's on Pickering Road, opposite this swanky new amenity, that the suicide attempt of Lomper (Steve Huison) is thwarted.

The Full Monty film location: Job Centre, West Street at Bailey Lane, central Sheffield

The Full Monty film location: the Job Centre: West Street at Bailey Lane, central Sheffield

The Job Centre exterior is the real deal; it’s the Job Centre, 112 West Street, at Bailey Lane, bang in the centre of Sheffield itself.

The Full Monty film location: Ruskin Park, Daniel Hill Street, Sheffield

The Full Monty film location: making amends with Gerald: Ruskin Park, Daniel Hill Street

You can find the tiny park, where the lads make amends to Gerald (Tom Wilkinson) with a superglued gnome, after disrupting his job interview, southwest, over the A61 Penistone Road. It’s Ruskin Park, Daniel Hill Street, in front of the Blake Pub, 53 Blake Street. It’s here the lads take the opportunity to invite Gerald to become choreographer.

Down to the southwest, in Whirlow, is Gerald's gnome-infested house, at 34 Whirlow Park Road.

Crookes Cemetery, where Lomper's mum is laid to rest, is west of the city at Crookes, north of the A57 Manchester Road.

The Full Monty film location: Regency House, Idsworth Road, Sheffield

The Full Monty film location: the exterior of the working men’s club: Idsworth Road

The fictitious ‘Millthorpe Working Men's Club’, where the lads finally perform, is a combination of Shiregreen Working Men's Club, 136 Shiregreen Lane, in Shiregreen to the north of the city, where the routine was actually performed (it now proudly advertises itself as ‘Home of the Full Monty’), and Regency House, Idsworth Road, off Firth Park Road, a furniture warehouse which supplied the club's exterior.
