THE MOTORCYCLE DIARIES FILMING LOCATIONS: NEW YORK

Barry Sonnenfeld's sci-fi spoof uses plenty of real NY sites, including the featureless concrete Holland Tunnel Ventilator Shaft at Battery Park, which becomes the MIB HQ.

The alien landing site, though, is one of my favourite locations. You can see the vast Unisphere on the cab ride into Manhattan from JFK. It stands in Flushing Meadow, Union Turnpike and 44th Avenue in Queens, along with the two towers topped by 'flying saucers'. They're a remnant of the 1964-65 New York World's Fair. The site was recreated in Hollywood for the saucer crash scene.
