Sudden Fear location: the home of wealthy playwright Joan Crawford: Scott Street, San Francisco
Neat suspenser, made in San Francisco, with wealthy playwright Myra Hudson (Joan Crawford) discovering that new hubby Lester Blaine (Jack Palance) is planning to bump her off. Hudson’s home palatial home is 2800 Scott Street at Green Street in the classy Pacific Heights district (the house is now the Indonesian Consulate).
Fleeing the homicidal Blaine, Hudson makes her way across town to the Tamalpais Building, 1201 Greenwich Street at Hyde Street in the Russian Hill district. The 1920s highrise had previously featured in the 1947 noir Dark Passage and in George of the Jungle.
