The real Adventureland, where director Greg Mottola once worked, is in New York, at 2245 Broad Hollow Road in Farmingdale on Long Island. It’s been modernised since the Eighties, hence the move to Pittsburgh to find a pleasingly old school park.
Kennywood Park, 4800 Kennywood Boulevard, West Mifflin, about 10 miles southeast of Pittsburgh itself, becomes the ‘Adventureland’ amusement park, where James Brennan (Jesse Eisenberg) takes a summer job in the ‘Games’ section.
in Coraopolis, a few miles northwest of Pittsburgh across the Ohio River, the Rolling Stones tribute band plays at the Stardust Lounge, 950 Brodhead Road.
The ‘Velvet Touch’ restaurant, where James’s mate Frigo (Matt Bush) witnesses his secret date with Lisa P (Margarita Levieva) is Jodi B’s Restaurant, 2600 Ardmore Boulevard in Forest Hills, an eastern suburb of Pittsburgh.
But his real love, naturally, is Em Lewin (Kristen Stewart), whom he first kisses at the car park beneath the foot of the southern end of Pittsburgh’s 16th Street Bridge.
