Billy The Kid | 1941
The dependably wooden Spangler Arlington Brugh (a wise name change to Robert Taylor, I think) takes over as Billy the Hero in this version of the famous legend, with landscapes filmed in Monument Valley, on the Arizona-Utah border north of Kayenta, and at Sedona, Arizona.
The colour cinematography was Oscar nominated, and in fact this was the first time the great red mesas and buttes of the spectacular valley were glimpsed in glorious Technicolor. See it again in John Ford’s She Wore A Yellow Ribbon and The Searchers.
