The Blue Lagoon | 1980
The Hollywood revisiting of Henry de Vere Stacpole’s 1908 novel, replacing the Britishly chaste Jean Simmons and Donald Houston who starred in the 1949 The Blue Lagoon, with the younger Brooke Shields and Christopher Atkins, was photographed by veteran Oscar-winning cinematographer Nestor Almendros, seemingly under the impression it was some contribution to the art of cinema, again in Fiji, and again in the Yasawa Islands, on the privately-owned island of Nanuya Levu, also known as Turtle Island, and now home to the exclusive Turtle Island Resort.
Despite claims, the film was not shot in Malta, Vanuatu or Jamaica.
