Writer Richard Benson (William Holden) holes up in a Paris hotel with secretary Gabrielle Simpson (Audrey Hepburn) to come up with a Hollywood screenplay in two days.
Much of the film is confined to one room, but the flights of fancy concocted by the couple are filmed on location around Paris.
Benson and Simpson dine on the terrace of the Chalet de la Grande Cascade by the Second Empire artificial waterfall near the Longchamp Crossroads in the Bois de Boulogne.
It’s a very glitzy restaurant, and if you don’t have a car it’s quite a schlep (metro: Ranelagh) along Route de l’Hippodrome.
Three years later, but a whole cultural world away, the Grande Cascade featured in Luis Buñuel's surreal classic Belle de Jour, with Catherine Deneuve.
