For the third sequel, it’s the supersonic luxury jet in trouble as arms dealer Kevin Harrison (Robert Wagner) tries to prevent passenger Maggie Whelan (Susan Blakely) publishing damning evidence against him.
The airplane this time is the sleek Anglo-French Concorde, which touches down and takes off from Dulles International Airport in Virginia, near Washington DC.
It’s heading for Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, but missile and F-15 fighter plane attacks mean an emergency landing with nets at Paris-Le Bourget, Paris’ original airport, a few miles north of the city. It’s now used only for business flights, but it does house the Musée de l'Air et de l'Espace, the museum of air and space travel.
Hotel scenes were filmed back in Los Angeles at the familiar Millennium Biltmore Hotel, 506 South Grand Avenue, downtown. The Biltmore is a familiar film location seen in films such as Beverly Hills Cop, Ghostbusters and Daredevil, among many others.
The final forced landing in the ‘Alps’ was filmed at Alta in Utah, southeast of Salt Lake City.
