The high-concept comedy sees newly-unemployed fathers Charlie (Eddie Murphy) and Phil (Jeff Garlin) finding themselves operating a successful Day Care business looking after the local kiddies.
Charlie’s pleasant suburban home is 351 Congress Place, off Orange Grove Boulevard in the leafy western reaches of Pasadena.
The rival ‘Chapman Academy’, run by ruthless Gwyneth Harridan (Anjelica Huston) is the Milbank and McFie Residence, 3340 Country Club Drive at Arlington Avenue between Pico and Olympic Boulevards, in the swanky part of midtown Los Angeles. The Mediterranean-style mansion, built in 1913 for Isaac Milbank, president of Country Club Park, remains a private home and there’s little to see from the street.
It was previously seen on-screen as the brothel in Dick Richards’ 1975 remake of Farewell My Lovely, with Robert Mitchum as Philip Marlowe. It also crops up in Hit Man, the little-seen 1972 blaxploitation remake of Get Carter, with Bernie Casey and Pam Grier.
