The first of Peter Greenaway’s elegant, game-playing features, with Anthony Higgins as Mr Neville, the draughtsman commissioned by Mrs Herbert (Janet Suzman) to produce a series of drawings, but subsequently drawn into an enigmatic murder plot.

The country house is Groombridge Place, a 1655 moated house set in landscaped grounds, in Groombridge, four miles southwest of Royal Tunbridge Wells on the Kent/Sussex border.

The house is also seen as ‘Longbourn’, the Bennet family home, in Joe Wright's 2005 film of Pride And Prejudice.
