Zach Braff writes, directs and stars in this sweetly soft-centred Sundance award-winner. You might detect a hint of autobiography as smalltime actor Andrew Largeman (Braff) flees Tinseltown to connect with his roots in New Jersey, as it’s filmed around Braff’s hometown of South Orange, as well as in Wallington; Dumont, Cranford, Morristown, Tenafly and Mahwah, New Jersey.
The disappointment: you won’t be able to bellow into that echoing chasm. It doesn’t exist, but was digitally created for the movie.
The good news: you can eat at the exotic ‘Beverly Hills’ restaurant, though you’ll find it in Brooklyn. Sample the seafood under the gaze of a golden Buddha at Sea Thai Bistro, 114 North 6th Street between Berry and Wythe Streets, in Williamsburg.
