The Hospital | 1971
- Locations |
- New York
- DIRECTOR |
- Arthur Hiller
Paddy Chayevsky copped the second of his three screenplay Oscars with this scathingly black satire on the state of the US medical system.
In 1956, he won gold with Marty, and in 1976 scored with an equally blistering attack on the TV business in Network.
The performances are great too, even if Arthur Hiller’s direction is a bit colourless.
The hospital itself, where the mortality rate among the staff outstrips that of patients, is the Metropolitan Hospital Center, 1902 First Avenue on New York’s Upper East Side.
