Kevin Kline is Howard Brackett, an English teacher outed during the Oscar acceptance speech of ex-pupil Cameron Drake (Matt Dillon), an event seemingly based on Tom Hanks’ naming of his drama teacher when picking up the award for Philadelphia (though Hanks claims he checked with the teacher beforehand).
Set in the fictitious town of ‘Greenleaf’, the movie filmed around New York State and New Jersey, mainly at Northport, NY.
