One joke sitcom storyline, with Jim Carrey as Fletcher Reede, a Los Angeles lawyer condemned to tell the truth for 24 hours by his son’s birthday wish.

Filming took place at Los Angeles’ City Jail, and the ‘Superior Court Building’, where Reede fights his cases, is Los Angeles City Hall, 200 North Spring Street, downtown Los Angeles. The court steps are City Hall’s West Entrance.

The restaurant in which Jerry (Cary Elwes) proposes to Reede ’s ex-wife is Bistro Garden, 12950 Ventura Boulevard, Studio City, an indoor version of the Beverly Hills favourite. The restaurant was also used for the speed-dating scene in 2005 Steve Carell comedy The 40-Year-Old Virgin.
Reede’s house is 1004 Highland Street, between Meridian Avenue and Fairview Avenue, in South Pasadena.
The airport climax is, of course, Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
