When the intimidating team of Tommy Lee Jones and Gary Busey attempt to hijack the nuclear arsenal from the ‘USS Missouri’, they’re thwarted by the ship’s cook Casey Ryback (Steven Seagal). Well, OK, he used to be a Navy SEAL.

This actioner, from the future director of The Fugitive, was made aboard the Battleship USS Alabama, Battleship Memorial Park, Mobile Bay, Mobile, Alabama.

The ship – 680 feet long and tall as a 20-story building – was launched in 1942 and saw action in the Pacific during WWII before being decommissioned in 1947. And if you think being ship’s cook is a wussy job, remember that the job involved preparing more than 7,500 meals a day. If you can handle that, seeing off a bunch of terrorists is a walk in the park.

In 1964, a campaign to bring USS Alabama home to serve as a memorial was launched – with almost $100,000 being raised by local schoolchildren.

The submarine USS Drum, another World War II veteran, was added to the park in 1969.
