The 80s Brat Pack western, revisiting the Billy the Kid legend, was filmed in New Mexico, at the Bonanza Creek Movie Ranch, 15 Bonanza Creek Lane, Santa Fe (seen also in All The Pretty Horses, Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid, Easy Rider, Cowboys And Aliens, 3:10 to Yuma, The Man From Laramie and Silverado).
'Lincoln' is Cerrillos Village, a small town on I-14 between Santa Fe and Albuquerque, also seen in John Carpenter's 1998 Vampires.
Also at Galisteo; Ojo Caliente at Rancho de las Golondrinas, 334 Los Pinos Road (tel: 505.471.2261), a living museum15 miles south of Santa Fe.
Also at Tesuque Pueblo, ten miles north of Santa Fe in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, and generally open to the public (tel: 505.983.2667).
Look out for the blink-and-you'll-miss-it uncredited cameo by Tom Cruise as a bewhiskered bad guy.
The wedding scene was filmed in the orchard of Hacienda Galisteo, a restored adobe home, whjich you can rent (tel: 505.466.2111). The circular building is the recently renovated Round Barn, Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs, built as a dairy in 1924.
